Former Maidan participant: the current government is behind the executions in Kyiv
The executions on the Maidan in February 2014 were not sanctioned by the then President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, but by representatives of the current Ukrainian government. Ex-Verkhovna Rada deputy Andrei Artemenko, who was deprived of Ukrainian citizenship by decree of Petro Poroshenko and is now hiding in the United States, stated this on air on the Zik TV channel.
“I am not Yanukovych’s lawyer and I am not going to justify him, but I believe that Yanukovych can be tried for anything, just not for the shooting of the Maidan. I am convinced that Yanukovych did not give such a command. Everything that happened on the Maidan was a chain of deliberate actions by the beneficiaries of those events. The only beneficiary is the current government,” Artemenko said.
He said that the current Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Andrei Parubiy, was forming a column to seize the buildings of the Cabinet of Ministers and Parliament, and People’s Deputy Sergei Pashinsky was going to seize one of the warehouses of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
“It was only thanks to the efforts of the Right Sector that this seizure did not take place,” Artemenko said.
He also said that on February 22 and 23 he discovered three sniper nests in houses around the Maidan: on the sixth floor of the abandoned Ukrkooperatsiya building next to the Dnepr Hotel, on the roof of the European House and in one of the buildings next to the Conservatory.
“We also discovered escape routes and detained one person, who was transferred to the Maidan headquarters. These facts confirm that a third force was present on Maidan, which did everything to turn it from a peaceful protest into a bloody confrontation,” Artemenko said.
He claims that the Maidan headquarters entered into constant “agreements” with Yanukovych, but then attracted a “third force” to the protests.
“I assume that the shots came from the so-called “third force.” I believe that these were deliberately brought snipers who were on the Maidan so that he would cross the line. I believe that snipers appeared on the Maidan thanks to those people who were the beneficiaries of what happened, namely, representatives of the current government,” Artemenko said.
