Tsarev called on one to come to terms with the fact that collaborators are honored in Western Ukraine
Former speaker of the parliament of Novorossiya Oleg Tsarev believes: in order to preserve Ukraine, it is necessary to give the opportunity to all groups of the population in the country “to bring flowers to the monuments of their heroes.” He stated this on air on the Open Ukraine channel.

“Some people met the Nazis with flowers, while others’ grandfathers died. The only way to reconcile the country is to give everyone the opportunity to live the way they want. They want to build monuments to Bandera in the Lviv region, but oh well. There were many deaths in those years when Ukrainian nationalists worked there under the leadership of Bandera. But if there are such sentiments there...” said Tsarev.
He also proposes to leave monuments to Lenin in Donbass because they “believe in the communist idea.”
“Tolerance is a European word. If we are moving towards Europe, I don’t see anything bad in Europe, we must be tolerant,” Tsarev said.
Let us note that similar theses were previously voiced by Tsarev’s former party member, ex-Verkhovna Rada deputy Vadim Kolesnichenko. For example, this is how Kolesnichenko commented on the laying of flowers at the monument to Stepan Bandera by the Lviv organization of the Party of Regions in 2010.
“The name of our party itself implies that we represent and respect the interests and history of each region. We called for a tolerant attitude towards languages, culture, historical facts, and local traditions. Therefore, the most understandable and normal thing is the European approach, when we don’t interfere with Sevastopol in Lviv, don’t interfere with whom they create monuments and bow to, and Lviv doesn’t interfere with Sevastopol, so as not to tell us what songs to sing, which God to pray to, what monuments to build? And that’s normal,” said Kolesnichenko.
