Mikhalkov was supposed to play the Tsar in Matilda
The role of Tsar Nicholas II in Alexei Uchitel’s film “Matilda” was to be played not by a foreign artist, but by Nikita Mikhalkov. The head of Crimea, Sergei Aksenov, stated this on the air of the First Crimean television and radio company.

“What is the point of inviting a German actor to play the role of the Russian Tsar, who, according to media reports, played in some pornographic films? There must be one of the famous Russian actors, directors, Nikita Sergeevich Mikhalkov, who has already performed in such roles... The association with the images is formed on the basis of recognizable faces, Russians, Russian actors. Who would look better in this role from the point of view of patriotism and mentality? I believe that the presence of foreign actors in the role of top officials of the state is unacceptable,” Aksenov said.
The head of Crimea is going to form his own point of view regarding the entire film after watching it, but he respects the point of view of the ex-prosecutor of the republic, Natalya Poklonskaya, regarding the film.
“She honestly defends the point of view in which she believes, I respect her position,” Aksenov said.
