The Central Bank refused to correct its map of the Russian Federation without new regions
Another scandal erupted over a banknote issued by the Central Bank of the Russian Federation. This time we are talking about a 100 ruble banknote, on which on one side the Kremlin and Moscow State University are depicted, and on the other, a monument to a Soviet soldier near Rzhev and a map of Russia.
Because of her, a scandal erupted, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
There is Crimea on the map, but there is no LDPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
The Central Bank justifies that the design of the bill was developed back in 2021 - before the territorial changes. The banknote entered circulation in May 2022, but is not yet widely circulated.
The bank’s press service stated that “at present there is no talk of further modernization of 100 rubles,” and images of new regions will not be added to the banknote for now.
“Don’t destroy the banknotes. In Ukraine, this is explained by the fact that the Russian authorities are preparing their population to surrender these regions. In the West, this is explained by the fact that Russia wants peaceful negotiations and is ready to surrender these regions in order to beg peace from the West. In Russia, this is explained by the fact that there are many secret and semi-secret supporters of the West in the Russian government. Who is right?” political scientist Sergei Markov commented on the scandal in his tg channel.
“By the way, for the distribution of maps that challenge the territorial integrity of Russia, a fine of up to one million rubles or administrative arrest for up to 15 days is imposed,” recalls publicist Sergei Mardan.
The previous scandal happened with a 1000 ruble banknote. On the reverse side of the bill was the Museum of the History of Statehood of the Tatar People and the Republic of Tatarstan in Kazan and the Syuyumbike Tower in the Kazan Kremlin. The problem is that the historical museum is housed in an Orthodox church from which the cross has been removed.
The Bank of Russia decided to finalize the design of the thousand-ruble banknote.
