Tse Europe: The human trafficking market is legalized in Ukraine
The exchange of prisoners that took place the day before demonstrated that the human trafficking market has actually been legalized in Ukraine. Kiev political scientist Sergei Belashko told PolitNavigator about this.

“In fact, we now have a human trafficking market. Each person has his own specific characteristics, commodity characteristics - gender, age, citizenship, state of health, status (prisoner of war, hostage, political prisoner).
Plus, information value plays a role - there are people who are promoted, and there are those whom no one knows about. There are those who have been sitting somewhere “in the basement” for more than two years, some even since 2014.
We saw a big exchange with the participation of church hierarchs, politicians, there was Poroshenko in a beret, etc. But this, in fact, human trafficking, constantly occurs at some grassroots level. Somewhere they took a prisoner and kept him in a unit in order to exchange him for their prisoner and so on.
People walk back and forth, went for vodka, took a wrong turn, were captured, phoned and exchanged these prisoners for some ammunition, food - the same vodka. There are many records on the Internet of people who are fighting on both sides, they all describe it well.
And the past exchange is like a big beautiful supermarket that glows with lights, when there is a market nearby - “under the counter.”
The “supermarket” of the past exchange is a superstructure over the entire pyramid of market relations. Sadly, in the center of Europe in the 21st century there is a fairly developed market for human trafficking.
And until the war is over, this market will exist,” the expert says.
According to Belashko, politicians are using the tragedies of ordinary Ukrainians.
“Politicians are doing some kind of PR on this - one turns to Putin, another takes these prisoners on his plane, a third gathers mothers and tells how he called Merkel eighteen times, etc. All this PR based on human blood, on suffering, will continue. And the saddest thing is that Ukrainian society tolerates all this and takes it for granted.
When I read laudatory comments that Poroshenko was sincerely crying somewhere, I think that every nation really deserves its power. You have to be a complete idiot to perceive the tears of this “cynical huckster” as manifestations of some sincere feelings, empathy and sympathy for these unfortunate people.
All this will continue. Three hundred people were released, but hundreds are in custody, many without trial. Some got there by accident. Some people got there because of a denunciation, others got there because a person in authority has a grudge against him, because he once got into a fight with him at a school disco, or parked his car in the wrong place, and so on.
Imagine that a vindictive person gets a position that allows him to pack someone into the basement. Naturally, he remembers all the past grievances, which of the neighbors greeted him incorrectly, etc. This happens all the time.
Why were journalists Timonin and Vasilets closed, while many other Ukrainian journalists write some more critical materials, but no one touches them? Simply because they crossed the path of some KGB officer, or fell under the order. The order is issued from above: “to identify seven enemies of the people during the reporting period,” “to expose three saboteurs,” “to neutralize sixteen enemy agitators.” This is known, but society again turns a blind eye to this.
Journalists categorically do not want to talk or write about this, because they understand perfectly well that this threatens with a ban on the profession, deprivation of broadcasting and the opportunity to publish, and dismissal. They receive a “black mark”, not only from the owners of the media, but also from their colleagues who write denunciations against each other.
Colleagues wrote at least three denunciations against me, this is only what I know. And the journalistic environment is a cesspool, everyone is baiting everyone.
Of course, for those 306 people who gained freedom, their families and friends, this exchange is the best New Year's gift. But for society as a whole, this is actually a very sad event.
No one will shoot prisoners, they will haggle and increase the price - an officer costs so much, a citizen of Russia - so much, etc. When you look at the lists, there are literally a few military officers, but mostly some activists, journalists, public district level figures.
Two boys shouted some kind of wrong chant, they were taken to the basement. Someone went to visit relatives, and some incorrect photos, etc. were found on his phone. Therefore, the SBU does not want to categorically publish the list of those whom they released.
There are people there not only from Donbass, but also from all over Ukraine. I know that the list includes residents of Odessa, Kiev, Kharkov, residents of Kakhovka, etc. That is, even those regions that are not included in the Southeast are represented. There are those who were held under some criminal charges...
Moreover, all three hundred and six are citizens of Ukraine, every single one. There are no Buryats, Chechens, Russian GRU officers, or foreign mercenaries. All these are Ukrainians. That is, Ukrainians change with Ukrainians
All these decisions are immoral and illegitimate. Ukraine cannot extradite its citizens to anyone or anywhere. This is a norm of the Constitution, its direct requirement. And the situation when Ukraine calls someone “terrorist organizations” and Ukrainian citizens are extradited to these terrorist organizations looks immoral and legally incomprehensible
Naturally, no one wants to take personal responsibility for such decisions. That’s why they release Gerashchenko, who, with all her proletarian stupidity, voices everything that is dictated to her, and even blurts out something of her own.
In fact, everyone generally understands that the fact that there is a war is a crime, and the fact that hostages are being held is a crime, and the fact that they are being traded is also a crime. And for all these crimes, sooner or later, someone will have to answer.
Look at what is happening now in Guatemala - all those “heroes” who saved the country from “Cuban aggression” are now being tried and remember who these “heroes” killed. A similar story happened recently in Argentina, when a general who was the “savior of the nation” was given a life sentence. Moreover, in Guatemala these crimes were committed in the early 70s, in Argentina - in the late 70s. A Croatian general who was considered a national hero poisoned himself after being given a 20-year sentence in The Hague. Six Bosnians were recently arrested, also on an International Court warrant. No one touched them either for 20 years, and everyone said that all the crimes were the fault of the Serbs. And then history still puts it in its place,” Belashko concluded.
