Tse Europe: Ukraine liquidated its environmental service in order to export timber to the West
The Ukrainian government specifically liquidated the Environmental Control Service at the border to make it easier to export timber to the West. The director of the Kyiv Ecological and Cultural Center stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The cunning Groyman adopted and prepared a law on the abolition of environmental control at customs and at the border. Those. Previously, there was environmental control subordinated to the environmental inspection; environmental inspectors worked there with education and knowledge who could distinguish beech from birch, pine from spruce, oak from hornbeam. Now, under the guise of reducing officials, environmental control is being removed, and the tasks of environmental control are transferred to customs officers, the most corrupt service in Ukraine, and people who do not have any environmental knowledge and experience, and radiological control is transferred to border guards. This is completely nonsense. Therefore, I deeply doubt that the criminal investigation will work; this requires specialists, they need to be trained. Where will we get specialists for the customs service? This is all very bad,” Boreyko said.
