The purpose of justifying Maidan opponents in Odessa could be a blow to Lutsenko
The true purpose of the sensational court decision in Odessa, which after three years of proceedings acquitted the Maidan opponents, could have been a blow from ill-wishers against the Prosecutor General of Ukraine and the president’s godfather, Yuriy Lutsenko.
Political scientist Ruslan Bortnik told PolitNavigator about this.

“Perhaps the judges did not take it upon themselves to convict these people. Perhaps this game of regional elites is in defiance of the center, in defiance of the president and especially the prosecutor general, for whom such an acquittal is, of course, a failure of the prosecutor’s office.
Perhaps this is due to the confrontation within the judicial system, which is now actively unfolding against the background of the reform.
In any case, this is a very bad sign for the authorities.
And the reaction of the nationalists to this was predictable. They will certainly try to use the situation to discredit the authorities, to create a crisis in which small nationalists can find themselves in advantageous political positions,” Bortnik argues.
