“When American troops were withdrawing from Afghanistan, many people assessed that all this would very soon spread to Central Asia. So that's how it spread. And it spread soon enough.

And there are already statements coming from the other side. By analogy with the “Arab spring” they say “Turkic spring”. It’s the same as the domino principle – one state will fall, followed by another, and so on.

Now the question is not whether Kazakhstan will turn towards Russia or not, but about building boundaries in relation to the force that is coming, including against Russia. If they are not stopped here, they will soon end up on Russian territory.

I believe that nothing is finished there, this is just the beginning, and this is the beginning not only for Kazakhstan. Central Asia, in my assessment, is on fire,” said Baghdasaryan.

According to his forecast, several parties will fight for control over the region: Russia, China, the West and Turkey:

“A big struggle for Central Asia is beginning. On the one hand, the forces, I would call them, for some reason do not use this historical analogy - the new Basmachi. These new Basmachi are coming from the south, acting in much the same way. This is Soviet Russia at one time, the Soviet Union had a rather long and persistent struggle in relation to the challenge. This is the first challenge.

Another challenge is the pan-Turkic project. And, you know, when it seems like Kazakhstan is our ally in the CSTO, but when I read various forums, what is called discourse, I see that sympathy for the Union of Turkic States there is much higher than for the CSTO. This means that the second project is Turkic.

China, if it implements its intentions to build a “single belt, single road” and so on, Kazakhstan is a key state here.

Well, Russia.

Naturally, the West cannot be thrown out, and a big struggle for Central Asia begins.”
