Gasoline prices in Ukraine increased by 10%: Fuel will continue to rise in price
Since the beginning of the year, prices for petroleum products in Ukrainian retail chains have increased by more than 10%; in the near future, fuel prices will continue to rise. Director of the Institute of Energy Research Dmitry Marunich announced this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“The growth was due to two factors. This is, firstly, a reduction in the price of the national currency - about 65% of gasoline is oil and the cost of its refining. Another 20% is excise tax, the excise tax is calculated in euros. All these factors significantly influenced the rise in prices for petroleum products. Now the rate has fallen a little, but everyone understands perfectly well that closer to the beginning of the second half of the year the rate will turn in the opposite direction.
Therefore, the short-term reduction in prices for petroleum products, which was achieved at large gas stations operating “white”, is a temporary trend. Somewhere closer to the middle of the year, probably in the second half of the year, the dynamics will change,” the expert said.
