Prices for body armor in Russia have increased almost 20 times
Families are forced to provide mobilized men with almost everything they need.
Senator Lyudmila Narusova announced this today at a meeting of the Federation Council, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“A few days ago I was at the mobilization reception center at the Khimki-Lobnya-Dolgoprudny military registration and enlistment office and saw how a bus with mobilized people was being sent out. I talked with the guys themselves and with their parents... The mothers said: just as I once collected for a pioneer camp, so now I collect for the Northern Military District. Thermal underwear, socks, underwear, clothes, not to mention stew and other food,” Narusova said.
The most expensive purchase for mobilized families, according to her, is body armor.
“The most important thing is that the army does not provide body armor. A bulletproof vest of the fifth degree of protection, which in January cost 7 thousand rubles, today costs 135 thousand. FAS should pay attention to this. This is a completely abnormal situation. Body armor is made by certain companies. Why don’t they transfer them to the army, but go on free sale?
Families who send a breadwinner must also spend such funds on the purchase of body armor. In my opinion, the army should provide this, and not the family sending a defender,” Narusova said.
The senator was outraged that conscripts going to Belgorod were given breakfast for economy class flights as a ration.
“Khimki is located not far from Sheremetyevo airport, and compassionate flight attendants bring this to give as dry rations to the guys who are going to the combat zone. Is this normal or not? – said Narusova.
