It’s time for the Church to open the abscess named Drabynko, - Orthodox Christians of Ukraine
The insinuations of Metropolitan Alexander Drabynko, secretary of the deceased primate of the UOC (MP), which the Kiev authorities are using in the fight against billionaire Vadim Novinsky, hit the Church the hardest. This was noted in their speeches by the participants of the annual meeting of Orthodox brotherhoods of Ukraine, held in Kyiv.

“The Drabynko & Co abscess is very painful,” said the famous doctor, head of the Union of Orthodox Brotherhoods of Ukraine Valentin Lukiyanik. – The time has come for the Church to express a clear position, because pluralism of opinions is not pluralism of lies and slander. If you listen to Drabynko, we don’t have a Church, but some kind of Vatican from the Borgia era. Such bark beetles as Drabynko and the renegade Kovalenko (press secretary of the previous primate of the UOC (MP) Vladimir Sabodan) have always existed. But in order to bring them out, you need a clear definition of the hierarchy based on them. If they continue to work in this direction, the damage may be irreparable.
But besides this obvious group, enough of their like-minded people remained, if not in the leadership of the Church, then next to it. And it is precisely because of this that many pressing issues are not resolved in the UOC. The function of the head of the metropolis, in this case our Beatitude, is management. Yes, he is a great man of prayer. But prayer is personal, and he is obliged to manage according to his position. Moreover, according to the bishop - according to Drabynko. Personnel decide everything, and even more so in the Church. If the shepherd is like this, then where will he lead his flock - the people who come to him for spiritual help?
“We didn’t put them in their place two years ago, now they are ‘rehabilitating themselves’ with the support of the authorities, who, in fact, always supervised and directed him,” continued Lukiyanik. – Is this why the leadership of the UOC seemed so indecisive in the past year? For example, His Beatitude identified Kovalenko as a rogue. But can he remain a priest in this case?
Of course, any priest has certain human weaknesses. But, if it is already publicly announced that he is a rogue, the question must be raised that this is not a priest. Especially if he himself refused to be one. I heard with my own ears at the round table how he “twisted” that he did not consider himself to be a member of the Moscow Patriarchate.”
The leader of the “Orthodox Choice” movement, Yuri Egorov, who spoke next, announced that in the near future the Kiev brotherhood of Alexander Nevsky will picket outside the Prosecutor General’s Office in defense of Vadim Novinsky, as the person who told the truth about Drabynko. Egorov’s proposal to send an appeal to the hierarchy of the UOC (MP) with a proposal to make a decision regarding the anti-church activities of Drabynko and Kovalenko was also unanimously approved.
