Rostransnadzor does not exercise proper control over air transportation in Russia. Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yuri Chaika stated this today, speaking at the Federation Council.

“During the inspection of the prosecutor’s office, it was established that last year the commissions of Rostransnadzor did not uncover serious violations on overhead lines. No wonder. After all, the stay of inspectors on foreign business trips was fully paid for by the airlines being inspected. Rostransnadzor inspectors, without flight education, monitored the actions of pilots in the air and received illegal quarterly payments of about 200 thousand rubles,” said Chaika.

The Prosecutor General's Office demanded that Rospotrebnadzor reconsider its approaches and strengthen the prevention of corruption offenses. In total, in 2016, 32 thousand offenses with a corruption component were identified in Russia.
