Chaly: The governor of Sevastopol should be dismissed by the new legislative staff
The governor of Sevastopol, Dmitry Ovsyannikov, did not live up to the hopes of voters and should be dismissed by the new composition of the legislative assembly, which will be formed based on the results of voting in the fall of 2019.
The hero of the “Russian Spring”, the former “people’s mayor” of Sevastopol, Alexey Chaly, stated this in an interview with the NTS TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“No matter what we say, we chose this person. You can blame some laws, this is all untrue. This does not match the result. The result was determined by the fact that at that time the majority of the population of Sevastopol was ready to vote for the current governor.
If Menyailo, one might say, was chosen by the deputies of the Legislative Assembly, this is a completely different story, then here the townspeople chose him. I would say that this is such a tough lesson in democracy...
Yes, this man had such ratings then, yes, he was well-educated, young, handsome from under the president, with beautiful slogans, a media picture, he impressed enough people to get elected. Then, objectively, he was the highest in ratings. That is, no one really could compete with him at that time.
A year later, the attitude towards him is different, because he has already shown himself in a completely different way. Well, these are the problems of democratic choice.
Well, now we have an even bigger problem, because if he was appointed, those who appointed him can remove him, but now it turns out that we have chosen him, and what to do with him, he is a concrete destroyer.
But we find ourselves in this situation. I’m very sorry, but I think this is a personal issue...
I believe that a new Legislative Assembly should be elected, which should dismiss the governor. This can be done with 16 votes if he lives to see that time himself. This is a legitimate way to dismiss the governor,” Chaly said.
Thank you!
