“Starting this year, on this day we will also celebrate the beginning of the “Russian Spring,” as a result of which Sevastopol and Crimea managed to escape from the captivity of a historical misunderstanding and return to their homeland,” Chaly believes.
“On this day, February 23, 2014, young and old gathered on Nakhimov Square for a rally of the people’s will against Ukrainian Nazism. And this unity of the townspeople gave a result that many of us had long dreamed of and which seemed almost unattainable,” recalls the politician who decided to lead the uprising in Sevastopol a year ago.
