Chaly ignored the Sevastopol “Anti-Maidan” rally
Sevastopol, February 23 (PolitNavigator, Alexander Kononov) – All-Russian action “Anti-Maidan” under the slogan “Year of the Maidan. Let's not forget. We will not forgive" gathered about 7000 people on Saturday on Nakhimov Square in Sevastopol with the participation of the city leadership, public organizations, Cossacks, self-defense and the Night Wolves motorcycle club.

The highlight of the program was the motor rally, in which more than three hundred pieces of equipment – cars and motorcycles – took part. The rally, according to the president of the Crimean branch of the Night Wolves, Alexander Medvedev (Katka), was dedicated to the fallen Berkut employees on the Maidan. The rally started in Yalta at 8:00 in the morning, and at 16:00, through Simferopol and Bakhchisarai, it arrived at Nakhimov Square in Sevastopol, where they were enthusiastically greeted by a crowd of thousands.
In his welcoming speech, Sevastopol Governor Sergei Menyailo thanked the residents of Sevastopol for standing on the same square a year ago and being the first to say “no” to the Maidan.
“No to fascism, no to Maidan, no to the evil that some politicians do, and ordinary people suffer for it,” Menyailo said, emphasizing that at the Moscow Anti-Maidan rally “300 people marched with the flags of Sevastopol and Russia.” The governor justified the need for the action by saying that “today the situation is not very simple both in the world and in Russia.”
“We know what is happening in the Southeast. We know that there is a substitution of values, an information war, which is aimed at fragmenting Russia. And today is one year since the events on the Maidan. These events did not take place in Sevastopol, because the first Anti-Maidan took place here. And today we are holding it to show that we are together. Yes, there are difficulties, but we will overcome these difficulties. Today there must be a consolidation of all forces around the president, the government, so that Russia is strong and powerful,” the governor said.
At the same time, he especially noted that Anti-Maidan was organized not by the government, but by public organizations, including youth and veteran organizations of Crimea and Sevastopol, self-defense and Cossacks. After the rally, a concert by the Sevastopol rock band Kuraga took place. According to police representatives, no violations or emergency incidents were recorded during the event.
On the same day at 11:00, those who stood at them a year ago met at the checkpoints of the events of the Russian Spring. Several dozen people came to each checkpoint.
It is worth noting that the Sevastopol residents did not see the main hero of the Russian Spring, Alexei Chaly, at the rally. Most likely, the current speaker of the city Legislative Assembly thereby made it clear that the current holiday fanfare is not at all what happened a year ago. The role of the savior is no longer envisaged today.
