There are no Chechens in Donbass - unshaven rebels are mistaken for them - State Border Guard Service of Ukraine
Kyiv, May 29 (Navigator, Vladimir Mikhailov) – Among the militias of the DPR and LPR there are no people from Chechnya or other republics of the North Caucasus. The head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Nikolai Lytvyn, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv.

“There is a lot of talk about Chechens now. Apparently, Chechens are considered to be all those with hair who have not shaved for a long time, and there are many of them. Among the militants there are representatives of different nationalities from different countries, and I would not speak unequivocally about the Chechens,” the official said.
According to the Border Service, among the rebels there are people from Abkhazia. “Nowadays all kinds of people can come to Ukraine. A person takes a passport and arrives, there are no questions to him. Therefore, he receives weapons and joins an armed formation. There are many such cases,” said the head of the Border Service.
According to Nikolai Litvin, a lot of false information is now being spread. “It is very beneficial to transfer many issues and problems to the state border,” he emphasized. Nikolai Litvin recalled the incident in Odessa, when there was also talk about the transfer of militants from Transnistria. “When they started looking into it, it turned out that Transnistria had nothing to do with it,” the official said.
According to him, since March 4, the State Border Service has detained a total of 200 citizens of the Russian Federation who had all the signs of military training, weapons and ammunition, and “wrapped up” 21 thousand people whose purpose of travel raised doubts among the border guards.
