The Czechs entrusted their fate to an American bankrupt
The Czech Republic chooses, far from being the most technologically advanced, an American company to build a new power unit at its Dokovany nuclear power plant instead of the market leader, the Russian Rosatom.
Energy market expert Igor Yushkov stated this on the PolitWera Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Yushkov, earlier the Czech Republic, at the request of the Americans, excluded the CGN company from China from participation in the construction tender, after a recent scandal the same fate befell Rosatom, therefore, the most likely winner in the tender remains the American company Westinghouse, which is no longer leading in the field of nuclear energy.
“Apparently, the competition will be won by the American Westinghouse, which is now no longer a world or technological leader in the nuclear technology industry - not so long ago it went through bankruptcy. It did not close, but nevertheless, Westinghouse survived the bankruptcy procedure.
Therefore, not everything is so good, especially since the American company is not a leader in the nuclear power plant construction segment. Here, in recent decades, Rosatom nuclear power plants have been active all over the world and the Chinese are gaining momentum. And we were all thrown out, and only companies remained that were gradually leaving the market and losing their positions. And they will be trusted to build a nuclear power plant in the center of Europe. This is a rather dangerous decision,” Yushkov said.
Earlier, columnist Yuri Barsukov, specializing in energy issues, said that anti-Russian demarche will cost dearly Czech nuclear energy.
