Poroshenko’s man admitted that the “poisoning” of Skripal is beneficial to Ukraine
Ukraine decided to withdraw from the treaty of friendship and cooperation with Russia, taking advantage of the anti-Russian hysteria in the West and the fact that such a step would not be condemned by its “partners.”
Political strategist of the President of Ukraine Oleg Medvedev said this on air on the ZIK TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, today is a convenient moment for any anti-Russian actions.
“I would look at this not so much from a legal point of view, but from a political one. From a political point of view, such a step is necessary, and it has arisen right now, because in this international situation, which has now developed in Russia’s general relations with the West, including with those countries that actively support Ukraine, a unique opportunity has arisen to hold this vote and make these political decisions to suspend certain provisions of this treaty,” Medvedev said.
He believes that this will allow Kyiv “to be absolutely and completely understandable” to Western partners.
“The opinion of Western partners is important for us, and Ukrainian diplomacy has chosen an opportune moment, analyzing the international situation, based on the fact that after the poisoning of Skripal, after the chemical attack in Syria, the West is increasingly taking a sober and realistic position towards Russia and it is becoming more sober including in those aspects that concern Ukraine,” Medvedev said.
