A man with an indecent three-letter surname got into a scandal in Ukraine
A native of Vietnam, Ngoc Huy obtained in the Odessa court the correct spelling of his last name in the diploma issued by the local polytechnic university - initially, the responsible employees chose to distort the data, indicating the foreign student’s last name as Hiu.
The day before, on December 10, a meeting of the Kievsky District Court of Odessa took place, which recognized Odessa resident Ngoc Huy has a higher education degree in computer science.
This was reported by the local publication Kulturometer, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The story of the incorrect spelling of the student’s surname began in 2005, when the Ukrainian visa VU NGOC HUY was transliterated as Vu Ngoc Hiu. Then in 2014, Ngoc received a permanent residence permit in Ukraine with all documents transliterated as Huy. The discrepancy in spelling with the diploma resulted in problems - Ngoc could not defend his thesis at the Polytechnic University and through the court proved that he had a higher education and that his last name was spelled correctly. Now he should be given a diploma with the correct option – Vu Ngoc Huy,” the publication writes.
