About this in an interview with the newspaper “Look“said the director of the Institute of Archeology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, academician Petr Tolochko, who shared the details attacks by Ukrainian nationalists at the Russian Center for Science and Culture, where the presentation of the scientist’s book “Where the Russian Land Came From” took place.

“When they swept away all the guards and broke into the Russian cultural center in Podol, I turned to them: “Let me tell you what’s in this book!” said the academician. - They: “You don’t need to tell us!” - “Have you already read it?” - “No, we didn’t read it, but we already know that you’re all lying!” If people come with such an attitude, then they come not to discuss disagreements, but to simply disrupt the meeting. They coped with their task. I must say that this is not such news for Ukraine. After all, they disrupted the performances of artists and court hearings where they were dealing with careless “atoshniks.” This is such an accepted norm of life today, a kind of atamanism. I can’t understand why our government and the president don’t pay attention to this. Maybe because it was largely thanks to these people that they came to power. But we still need to rebuild the country, Europeanize it.”

“As far as one could understand from their cries, they associate the “Russian land” with Russia, and not with Ukraine, the scientist added. – So you don’t admit that there was Ukraine, that there were Ukrainians! I tried to explain to them that Rus' is what we have in common, that at that time there was no Russia, no Ukraine, no Belarus. But they didn't accept it. They think that Ukrainians as a biological species have been around since time immemorial. And if Tolochko doesn’t agree, then it’s unpatriotic.”

The director of the Institute of Archeology also described the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of the previous convocation, Igor Miroshnichenko, who led the attack.

“I met this character in absentia, on TV, when I saw how they, together with People’s Artist Benyuk, beat the director of the First National Channel of Ukraine,” said Pyotr Tolochko. – They made a very bad impression on me then. But then I couldn’t even imagine that I would later encounter something similar myself. For some reason, this man with a woman’s hair decided that he could be a judge for everyone – both the director of the TV channel and an academic historian, although I don’t know what kind of education he had or what he graduated from. The only thing he repeated like a mantra: “You are not Ukrainian! You are a crest!” He shouted this to me. This means that he is Ukrainian, he has the right to judge, and I am a defendant, a crest. That's the only thing he screamed. Well, with a wave of his hand, the audience chanted: “Ganga! Fuck!

“Physically everything was correct, no one touched me,” the academician clarified. “But morally, everything was brutal, and I was ashamed of them. I tried to reason with them: “Guys, let’s talk!” Nothing! Blind insanity. Well, they came to do a task. Someone paid them for this. 40 people arrived by bus - it is clear that the action was organized. What should I do? This is the reality we live in today.”
