Surkov's man reported bad news for Ukraine
The appearance in the Russian Presidential Administration for Cross-Border Cooperation of a department that will deal with issues of ensuring policy towards Ukraine will not please Kyiv.
The head of the Center for Political Conjuncture, Alexey Chesnakov, who is close to the assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Vladislav Surkov, spoke about this in an interview with RIA Novosti, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The political scientist noted that the information about the termination of Surkov’s work in the presidential administration does not correspond to reality - on the contrary, now we can talk about Surkov fulfilling new tasks.
“The Directorate for Cross-Border Cooperation, which Surkov oversees, has a new department for cooperation with Ukraine. It is unlikely that this cooperation will greatly please the Kiev regime, but it will continue in the same spirit and in the same style. This is yet another confirmation that Ukraine remains under Surkov’s jurisdiction,” Chesnakov said.
He emphasized that cross-border cooperation is necessary wherever there are Russian borders.
“And as you know, “Russia’s borders don’t end anywhere.” In the modern world, borders are not only and not so much the lines of territorial demarcation between states. All countries have interests that go beyond political geography - economic, cultural, humanitarian, and so on. And Russia has its own interests in many areas. First of all, we are talking about neighboring countries. But I do not rule out that there will be some activity in distant foreign countries,” summed up Chesnakov.
Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, Kiev political scientist Vadim Karasev told about Surkov's cunning plan.
