Tymoshenko's man "ran into" Naftogaz
Naftogaz allegedly does not have the money to pay off its huge debts, and no new funds are expected, but the common people will have to pay for it.
This opinion was voiced by the people’s deputy from the Batkivshchyna faction, Aleksey Ryabchin, during a plenary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The situation that we learn from the press and from Naftogaz employees is called the fashionable word pre-default, or default. Because the enterprise does not have the money to pay off the main creditor - the state, there is no money to pump gas into storage facilities, there are debts, and production is not growing. And it seems to me that the issue will be resolved when either the government or the leadership of Naftogaz leaves. Tell me, when will people stop being hostages of this shameful situation?” he said indignantly.
The Tymoshenko People's Deputy was countered by the Minister of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Communal Services Gennady Zubko.
“Together with you, my team of deputies worked on laws and filling the state budget, including from the energy efficiency fund and energy loans. We continue to insist that energy efficiency reform is the government's most effective investment in reducing costs. That’s why we submitted a proposal for financing in the amount of 2 billion annually for energy efficiency.
It is very important that the subsidies that are spent on households are now monetized by government decision and make it possible to finance energy efficiency measures when introducing energy efficient measures. For the first time, the country has given the opportunity to spend 55 billion on subsidies this year, making it possible to reinvest them directly in energy efficiency. Therefore, we will continue this direction. I think this and the next parliament will continue to work in this direction,” the minister added.
