What does encroachment on Russian property mean for Kyiv?
Attempts to nationalize Russian property in Ukraine are fraught with serious problems for Kyiv.
Such a warning was made at a press conference in Kyiv by the former Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Honored Economist of Ukraine Viktor Suslov, who recalled a number of political statements and legislative initiatives regarding the nationalization of the property of Russian investors in Ukraine.

“If Ukraine follows this path, it will not improve the investment climate,” the economist warns. – And any attempt to discriminate against investors based on nationality or country can hardly be supported, if only because not all private investors from Russia are Putin’s supporters. Attempts to privatize individual Russian banks, as has been much talked about, would be steps that would undermine confidence in investment in Ukraine. I wouldn't recommend going this route. And in the event of confiscation or nationalization of any property of foreign investors, I have no doubt that they will appeal to international courts and, most likely, such courts will win.”
