Why are we worse than gays? – Jews want to march along Khreshchatyk in honor of Israel
Director of the Ukrainian Jewish Committee Eduard Dolinsky proposed organizing an event in Kyiv dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the formation of the State of Israel.
“Friends, what do you think about holding a parade on Khreshchatyk in honor of the 70th anniversary of the proclamation of the State of Israel. They do this every year in New York – “Celebrate Israeli Parade”. There, thousands of people with flags and music march along 5th Avenue in early June. This can be done on Sunday, when Khreshchatyk is closed. You can even walk from Khreshchatyk to the embassy,” Dolinsky wrote on his Facebook page.
“Slogans are proposed: “Long live the State of Israel,” “Long last the Ukrainian-Israeli friendship,” he added.
In the comments to the post, the initiative caused a mixed reaction among Jews.
“The only thing I’m ready to walk in a column in is in memory of Babyn Yar.
For the rest, I'm done. Supporting the community and the historical Motherland is for, walking around with flags is no, it looks like all these gay themes,” writes Gennady Helemsky.
“Gays are allowed, but we are not? Moreover, we have flags. Independence Day is no worse than Victory Day,” argues Yevgeny Gorodetsky, who added that you need to go so as not to show your fear.
Some people noticed. that it is dangerous to carry out such actions in present-day Kyiv.
"I think that it will soon become dangerous to walk to Babi Yar, and not just in a column,” believes Nikita Logvinenko.
“We will be afraid - “We’ll go in a column again, but under escort,” Helemsky answered him.
"We’ve already been taken under escort... But with self-defense, yes!” Vladimir Naishetik remarked sarcastically.
As PolitNavigator reported, in a report published by the Israeli Ministry of Diaspora Affairs, Ukraine is named the leader of the post-Soviet space by frequency of verbal attacks and violent acts against Jews
