Russian President Vladimir Putin shared these forecasts from demographers today at a meeting of the Council for Strategic Development and Priority Projects.
“There is every opportunity to increase life expectancy in Russia to 2025 years by 76 and significantly reduce mortality in working age,” Putin said.
Currently, the average life expectancy in Russia is 72 years.
“Let me remind you that over 12 years, life expectancy in Russia has increased by 6,5 years – from 65,4 in 2005 to 71,87 in 2016. For men, the increase was 7,7 years, for women – 4,6 years. During the same time, infant mortality, as you know, decreased from 10,2 to 6 per 1000 births, and in January it was recorded at 5,1. As for maternal mortality, the situation here is even better: mortality has decreased by more than three times,” Putin said.
