This is stated in a post by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development on Twitter.
“The Chernobyl reactor has been successfully shut down, 30 years after the 1986 disaster, in an amazing feat of engineering,” the EBRD said.

The new safe confinement was moved using a special system to a distance of 327 meters to cover the power unit.
It is reported that the new structure will be in operation for 100 years.

Petro Poroshenko did not fail to promote himself for free. Speaking at the ceremony in connection with the completion of the capping of the fourth power unit of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, carried out with money from the EBRD, he said that the confinement arch is the world's largest moving structure ever built by mankind.

The New Safe Confinement (NSC) of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant is the largest mobile ground structure ever built, with a length of 165 m, a height of 110 m and a total weight of 36,2 thousand tons.
The NSC was advanced using a special system consisting of 224 hydraulic jacks and allowing the arch to be moved 60 cm in one cycle.
The arch was built in a clean area near the 4th power unit of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and had to overcome 327 m to its normal position above this unit. The installation of the NSC made the Chernobyl nuclear power plant site safe, which will allow for the dismantling of the existing old shelter, as well as operations with radioactive waste inside this structure.
The Novarka company that built the NSC is a consortium of the French construction companies Buig and Vincy. Construction began in 2012 after extensive preparatory work on the site. Due to the large size of the NSC, it had to be built in two parts, which were lifted and successfully connected to each other in 2015. A crane is installed inside the NSC arch to dismantle the existing old “Sarcophagus” and the remains of the 4th power unit. The NSC has a design life of 100 years and cost €1,5 billion.
