The Black Sea is becoming Russian: the Ukrainian Navy is powerless
Next year, Ukraine should prepare for a further tightening of Russian actions not only in the Azov Sea, but also in the Black Sea, where the Ukrainian Navy is powerless against the Russian Black Sea Fleet.
Yuriy Lapaev, a journalist of the Ukrainian Week newspaper and ex-combatant of the so-called ATO, stated this during the press conference “The World in 2020,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Most likely, we will continue the blockade in the Sea of Azov. In addition to Azov, it is worth paying attention to the Black Sea and Odessa. This news passed without much publicity, but, it seems, on July 10 there was a practice of launching a missile strike by two Russian strategic bombers on Odessa. That is, they reached 60 kilometers to Odessa, set a course, practiced a conditional strike, and then turned around and flew on.
What is the point of this attack? From a military point of view, absolutely nothing, because these are strategic bombers, so, in principle, there are no real targets for them in Odessa. This is more of a psychological attack.
You must understand that the Black Sea is being militarized, Russia is building gas pipelines there, which are used not only for gas, but also for reconnaissance, and Russia will be interested in protecting them, it will continue to block the Black Sea, and threats to our military There will be even more ships and navy in the future. This will negatively affect the Ukrainian economy,” Lapaev concluded.
