Montenegro is ready to officially recognize the historical role of Serbian Orthodoxy in its lands
The draft Basic Agreement between Montenegro and Serbia has been published пOrthodox Church, the text of which has undergone changes since last year, when the Montenegrin Prime Minister did not sign it.
The text was published on the Vijesti website, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
In the preamble of the new draft Basic Agreement sent by the Government of Montenegro for approval to the Serbian Patriarchate, it is written that the Christian Church on the territory of modern Montenegro has been present since apostolic times and its continuity has gone through historical Orthodox and church structures since the founding of the Principality of Zeta and the Budimlya-Hum diocese in composition of the Žić Archdiocese of the Peć Patriarchate, that is, the Serbian Orthodox Church. There was no such wording in the previous text.
The new project also states that the historical role of the SOC, especially the Montenegrin-Litovian Metropolis during the time of the Montenegrin metropolitan rulers, is respected, as well as its role in the formation of Montenegrin statehood, social, cultural and educational development of the country.
The SOC achieved such an attitude due to the fact that it did not bend to the nationalist regime of President Milo Djukanovic, who tried to implant the schismatic “Montenegrin Orthodox Church,” but responded to attempts to discriminate against it with mass religious processions (litiyas) under Serbian national flags.
At the same time, the Russian Orthodox Church not only created the UOC-MP, which did not provide systemic resistance to the Maidan regime, in some places collaborating with it, but also, in the person of its clergy, did not condemn the leadership of Ukraine, which unleashed the war in Donbass, for and for which it received history with the tomos and the OCU .
