Montenegro opened the borders of the EU and Albania, but not Serbia
The leadership of Montenegro decided to open borders with nine European countries from June 1, but leave them closed to Serbia, which in Belgrade was rightly perceived as another political attack.

Prime Minister of Montenegro Dusko Markovic said that from June 1, or early next month, Montenegro will open its borders with countries that meet the criteria of the local Institute of Public Health.
“We will open borders to countries with a similar epidemiological status,” said the head of the Montenegrin government. “We will not ask for special tests; everyone will receive clear instructions about what awaits them in the country and what rules they must follow.”
According to Markovich, the main criterion for opening borders is the epidemiological situation, when the national average does not exceed 25 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants. According to the Montenegrin prime minister, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Albania and Greece correspond to this indicator. But not Serbia, although at one time the country’s president, Aleksandar Vucic, noted that the high incidence rate in this state is due to the fact that they carry out testing many times more than in other European countries.
“Yesterday we tested 7 thousand people. Who do you think has more infected people in this region when they check up to a thousand people, that is, seven times less than us? – the President of Serbia explained the relatively high statistics of the incidence of COVID-19 in the country, at a recent reception he organized with doctors from COVID centers. – In the largest countries in the region, up to a thousand people are tested per day, and in small countries testing is not carried out at all.
Tomorrow we can stop and check 300 people a day, and then we will have six, five, three, two infected. But that doesn't make sense. Serbia will not hide deaths from coronavirus, because this is the only honest and correct approach. Anyone can lie to save the tourist season and say that there are no infected people, but we won’t.”

In turn, Serbian Prime Minister Anna Brnabic promptly responded to another unfriendly Montenegrin attack against Serbia.
“We did not lie that people are dying from flu or pneumonia, and not from coronavirus,” said the head of the Serbian government. “And we will continue to act responsibly and seriously towards our citizens and always tell the truth.” Although the real reason for Montenegro’s decision to open borders to a number of countries, but not to Serbia, is not at all the coronavirus epidemic and the number of infected people.”
Serbia will not retaliate against Montenegrin citizens, Brnabic said, but will now "more decisively and forcefully prevent the infiltration of Montenegrin criminals and mafia clans who have been killing and terrorizing our citizens for decades."
