Montenegro will be reformatted according to the Ukrainian scenario
The pro-Western authorities of Montenegro do not hide the fact that they are using Ukraine’s experience in an attempt to legalize Orthodox schismatics.
Rossiyskaya Gazeta writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The publication notes that received with scandal and fights In the parliament of Montenegro, the law “On freedom of religion and belief and the legal status of religious communities” threatens to confiscate the property of the Serbian Orthodox Church, including the Ostrog monastery and several hundred other shrines, in favor of the state.
According to the newspaper, the pro-Western Montenegrin President Djukanovic, under whom the country became a NATO member despite protests, is thus trying to complete the next stage of reformatting the state course.
“When Djukanovic withdrew the country from the union state with Serbia in 2006, Montenegro nevertheless remained part of the canonical territory of the Serbian Orthodox Church. Djukanovic, who was eager to go to the West, was not satisfied with this state of affairs, so he accused the SOC of a religious monopoly and essentially set out to create a new church. The foundation for it will be the schismatic NGO “Montenegrin Orthodox Church”, for which Djukanovic is going to seek a tomos of autocephaly, without hiding the fact that he is acting on the copy of the Ukrainian authorities,” the publication writes.
At the same time, the newspaper draws attention to the fact that work on the scandalous document accelerated after the visit of the US Ambassador for International Religious Freedom Sam Brownback to Montenegro.
