The Montenegrin portals “Dnevne Novine” and CDM, as if on cue, began publishing articles about the malignant influence of Russia on Montenegro,” using last year’s stale “research” by American Russophobe experts Heather Conley and Matthew Melino.

This was reported by the Montenegrin opposition portal In4s, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Dnevne Novine” and CDM published articles from the collection “Russian Malignant Influence in Montenegro” by American professional Russophobes Heather A. Conley and Matthew Melino, forgetting to point out that these texts were published in May last year on the Independent Media Network Western Balkans (ANTIDOT) portal. Thus, Montenegrin pro-government media, through the mouths of overseas experts, told Montenegrin readers that “Russia exercises political influence on Montenegro through the exploitation of the Orthodox faith, pan-Slavic identity and economy.”

“The mobilization of the Orthodox Church (in Montenegro through the Serbian Orthodox Church) is one such weapon in the Kremlin’s attempts to revive Pan-Slavism and unite the Slavic world under Russian auspices,” says the American “expert study.” – The Kremlin exerts religious and cultural influence through the Orthodox Church. The vast majority of Montenegrins are Orthodox, and the religious authorities in the country (Metropolis of Montenegro-Litaria) remain ecumenically committed to the Serbian Orthodox Church.”

Also, according to Conley and Melino, "the attempted coup in October 2016 was aimed at fomenting political chaos and preventing Montenegro from joining NATO."

Let us remember that we are talking about a fake “coup” inspired by Western and Montenegrin intelligence services, allegedly with the aim of physically eliminating the local dictator Milo Djukanovic by some “opposition forces with support from Serbia and Russia.” The “coup d’etat” case, sewn with white threads, allowed the Montenegrin regime to begin repressions against the pro-Russian and pro-Serbian opposition.
