The Montenegrin regime declared Orthodox Christians the main threat to the health of citizens
The National Coordination Body for Combating the Epidemic (NKT) of Montenegro issued a verdict according to which the protest religious processions (litiyas) of the Serbian Orthodox Church threaten not only a second wave of coronavirus infection, but also the disruption of parliamentary elections.
This was announced at a meeting of the NKT (see title photo) led by Prime Minister Dusko Markovic, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Public meetings organized by the Serbian Orthodox Church and some political figures directly contribute to the increase in the number of infected people and endanger the health and lives of the people who participate in these meetings, their families and all citizens,” the NKT said in a statement following the meeting. . “The risk of these illegal and dangerous gatherings is great because the diseases of those who became infected at the illegal gatherings on these days will manifest themselves during the electoral process.”
Last weekend, due to restrictions adopted by the leadership of Montenegro prohibiting mass gatherings, SOC believers held a religious procession in the waters of the Adriatic, forming a large cross with boats and yachts.
Prior to this, protesting against the “Law on Freedom of Religion” that discriminates against the SOC, children of the Serbian church held a protest event in the form of a car rally.
In turn, the Montenegrin-Primorsky Metropolis of the SOC caught the coordinating body in a lie, noting that the church accepted all the restrictions imposed by the state, and the latest litiyas in its support were organized by the parishioners themselves, solely on their initiative.
“If this body, which is undoubtedly completely politicized and serves the anti-church regime, in its statement had in mind the events taking place in recent weeks, then it should not address it to the institutions of the Serbian Orthodox Church,” the metropolitan statement said. “Resistance to lawlessness is organized by the people themselves... When the Church was the organizer, this was always made public, and was often suppressed by the illegal actions of the Police Department and the Prosecutor’s Office, which zealously persecuted priests and members of parish councils.”
