Montenegrin Deputy Prime Minister is protected from mafia revenge by special forces and an armored car
Montenegro police have strengthened security for the country's deputy government chairman, Dritan Abazovic, after it became known that the leaders of the Kavač crime clan had vowed to kill him.
This is how organized crime, which flourished under President Milo Djukanovic, responded to the recent arrest of one of the clan leaders and Abazovic’s refusal to meet with crime bosses.
According to a PolitNavigator correspondent, the strengthening of security measures for the Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro, Albanian Abazovic, occurred after another criminal showdown between local gangster clans, during which Zoran Asanin was killed in Mojkovac. While investigating this murder, law enforcement officers listened to a telephone conversation, during which already arrested killer Goran Pantovich told a member of the Kavac clan:
“After I kill Ashanin, we will finish with Abazovich for arresting the boss.”
Pantovic himself was arrested by police the day before.
Dritan Abazovich.
Montenegro media recalled that the Kavac clan had already threatened Abazovic after the parliamentary elections in August 2020, after he refused to meet with its leaders.
As soon as operational information was received by law enforcement officers, they immediately evacuated Dritan Abazovic from Herceg Novi, where he was on an official visit. Today, the Montenegrin Deputy Prime Minister is guarded around the clock by police special forces, reinforced by an armored personnel carrier.
