The Black Sea Fleet does not allow Maidan activists to extract oil and gas on the sea shelf
In Kyiv they are complaining that the Russian military is not allowing the Ukrainian side to extract oil and gas from the bottom of the Black Sea. The head of the “alternative” Ukrainian Chernomorneftegaz, Svetlana Nezhnova, stated this on the air of the “Question of National Security” program.

According to her, Ukrainian gas production companies cannot produce on the Black Sea shelf.
Chernomorneftegaz is always ready for bold behavior, but we saw the Russian military there, we saw Russian ships there, we saw Russian planes there, which prevent us from even approaching these fields, let alone putting any equipment there. And now Chernomorneftegaz does not have the equipment... It is impossible today to engage in gas production in the area of the Odessa field,” the official laments.
Let us recall that after the reunification of Crimea with Russia, all drilling rigs of the Crimean company Chernomorneftegaz were taken under control by the Russian military. Kyiv considers drilling platforms its property and threatens Russia with an international court.
Ukraine once purchased drilling rigs to increase oil and gas production in the Black Sea, citing the need to “reduce dependence on fuel supplies from Russia.”
The Ukrainian side made several attempts to land its representatives on the platforms of Chernomorneftegaz, but each time the approach of Ukrainian vessels was not allowed by patrol ships of the Russian Navy.

In past years, Ukrainian politicians have repeatedly stated that the Russian Black Sea Fleet is of no combat value and is outdated.
