This was stated by the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Maxim Burbak during a working trip to the Zaporozhye region, reports the Department of Press and Information of the Regional State Administration.
“In the near future – on May 13-14 – a meeting will be held with representatives of the Czech company Skoda on the procedure for registering an enterprise for the joint production of electric locomotives in Ukraine on the basis of the Zaporozhye Electric Locomotive Repair Plant,” Burbak said.
According to him, Europeans are ready to provide technical and even financial assistance to certify Ukrainian production in accordance with European standards.
According to the head of the plant, Vitaly Bondarenko, the joint venture will produce up to 25 electric locomotives per year. During production it is planned to use domestic metal and some components, so the cost of production will be lower than that of analogues manufactured in the EU.
