In Moscow, the issue of territorial registration of four new regions, which will become part of Russia following the results of referendums on the territory of the former Ukraine, is now being decided.

The director of the International Institute of New States, Alexey Martynov, said this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

He recalled that if the republics of Donbass already exist in the form of partially recognized states, are proclaimed accordingly, have their own authorities and recognition of the Russian Federation, then the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions are in the process of their formation.

“The optimal option will be chosen to organize peaceful life as quickly as possible. How this will happen is being decided at these moments at consultations in Moscow.

There were different options: to unite the Donbass republics and liberated territories into a single entity, to annex the liberated territories to the existing republics - Donetsk or Lugansk. There will probably be four separate entities. This is now being decided,” Martynov told Izvestia.

Most likely, he continues, that regardless of territorial division, all regions will form a new federal district along with Crimea and Sevastopol. At the same time, the expert believes that the inclusion of the Crimean Peninsula in the Southern Federal District “is not entirely correct from a territorial point of view.”

At the same time, there have been no official comments from Moscow on this matter. The Kremlin said that President Vladimir Putin will talk with the leaders of the regions where referendums were held, but there are no specifics yet.

In turn, LPR Ambassador Rodion Miroshnik says that the date of the meeting with Putin should be determined by the presidential protocol. According to the diplomat, the date of the meeting has not yet been confirmed.

“The protocol is still being formed,” Miroshnik said, answering a question about the date of the upcoming meeting with the president.
