A quarter of the units of Ukrainian thermal power plants do not operate due to lack of coal
20 of the 85 available thermal power plant units and one building of thermal power plants and combined heat and power plants with a total capacity of 7,26 GW were not operational on December 6 due to lack of fuel.
This follows from the data of Ukrenergo, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the latest data from the Ministry of Energy, as of December 6, at 12 thermal power plants, coal reserves were below the minimum volumes of guaranteed reserves provided for by the relevant regulations. In total, there are 15 thermal power plants and 85 thermal power units in the country.
According to energy markets expert Valentin Zemlyansky, the situation in the thermal energy sector is not changing - there is still no coal. Because of this, some of the units had to be taken out of operation.
“The situation has not changed - there is no fuel, thermal power plants are standing still. Some blocks do not work. In general, thermal generation cannot be loaded at 100% - some units are always under repair, some are in “hot reserve”. Now 20 blocks are without fuel. This is normal,” said Valentin Zemlyansky in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
