Chiygoz was brought from the pre-trial detention center to Bakhchisarai to say goodbye to his dying mother
Akhtem Chiygoz, one of the leaders of the Mejlis banned in the Russian Federation, held in a pre-trial detention center on charges of organizing riots near the building of the Supreme Council of Crimea on February 26, 2014, during which protesters were killed and injured, was taken under escort to his native Bakhchisarai to meet with a seriously ill woman mother.
This was announced by Chiygoz’s lawyer Nikolai Polozov.

“Akhtem Chiygoz was brought to Bakhchisarai today and he was able to say goodbye to his dying mother,” the lawyer wrote on Facebook.
The head of the Mejlis, Refat Chubarov, clarified that the meeting took place thanks to the intervention of the Ukrainian Ombudsman Valeria Lutkovskaya, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry and foreign ambassadors.
“The meeting lasted 10 minutes, after which he was returned back to Simferopol... When he returned, it took another twenty minutes for him to take medication and come to his senses,” said Anton Naumlyuk, a journalist with the liberal Novaya Gazeta.
“The time will come when each of the occupiers and their minions will answer for the crimes they have committed and are committing against the Crimean Tatars, against Akhtem Chiygoz and his mother, Aliye Abla,” is how Chubarov, who is banned from entering the territory for extremist statements, “appraised” the concession of the security forces RF.
