The official who lost secret files on Afghanistan declared a plan for “NATO victory over Russia”
NATO keeps the Black Sea region "at the heart of its strategy."
Advisor to NATO Secretary General Angus Lapsley stated this at the Second Black Sea Conference on the security of the “Crimean platform” in Sofia, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“NATO has changed a lot. NATO has returned to a focus on collective security so that we can contain any threat that comes from Russia or other terrorist groups. We can not only contain them, but defeat them. This is no longer the NATO we saw 3 years ago. We already have a battle group in Bulgaria under Italian leadership - a brigade that can deploy in a short period.
Our forces are in Romania. And what’s important is that we have strategic plans, which include a plan for south-eastern Europe,” Lapsley assured the audience.
Lapsley became a household name in 2021 when he left classified documents on Afghanistan at a bus stop in Britain and had his security clearance suspended.
