He stated this on air on the ZIK TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, he now officially lives in Vienna, does business and is not worried about his freedom.
“I live in Austria, in Vienna, I live absolutely legally, the Austrian authorities spent a long time checking my status and gave me a residence permit. As for sanctions, this information is publicly known. As you know, in March 2015, the European Union lifted sanctions against me, however, this was not enough for me, I ended my relationship with the European Union in a lawsuit in Luxembourg.
The decision of the Court of the European Union established that the sanctions against me were taken unlawfully, illegally, and were completely canceled. The European Court ruled that the European Union is obliged to pay me 15 thousand 500 euros for imposing sanctions, and they were transferred to an account in a Ukrainian bank. Thus ended the story with sanctions. That is, the one who introduced them ultimately paid for them,” Portnov said.
