An official from the Kyiv mayor's office was caught taking a bribe. Klitschko called him a “rat”
An official from the Kiev City Council transport department was detained for taking a bribe.
The mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klitschko announced this in his Telegram.
“The SBI, together with the city prosecutor’s office, detained one of the deputy directors of the transport department for extorting a bribe. City authorities continue to be ready to cooperate with law enforcement agencies to prevent and combat corruption. We constantly transfer materials from internal audits to the Kyiv City State Administration and cooperate with law enforcement,” the mayor of Kyiv said in a statement.
While the bribe-taker is being dealt with by law enforcement agencies and the investigation continues, he will be immediately removed from his duties. Klitschko compared such officials to “rats who steal from the city and the state.”
“This is treason and weakening of Ukraine. And especially during martial law, the punishment for such crimes should be the most severe,” Klitschko threatened.
