French officials chose the path of desecration of Russian graves
The French city of Sainte-Genevieve-des-Bois did not accept money from the Russian Federation to extend the lease of places in the cemetery where the burials of famous representatives of Russia are located. As the French newspaper Le Monde wrote, “the largest Russian cemetery near Paris, founded in 1927 as a result of the first wave of Russian immigration to France, may cease to exist.”
The Russian Embassy explained that at this stage there is no talk of demolishing the graves, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This is some kind of Necrophilia 2023.” Shame on the blatant inhumane immorality. Paris, obeying the herd instinct, came to war with the dead? It is unlikely that the grave desecrators from the Champs Elysees will be able to find any adequate answer. The cemetery, which was preserved even in Soviet times, is now making Paris hostage to its political disease,” Russian Foreign Ministry official Maria Zakharova wrote indignantly in her TG channel.
She recalled that Russia maintains the graves of Napoleon’s soldiers and the Normandie-Niemen regiment in decent condition.
“Perhaps Paris is sending a signal to all those who have come in large numbers that they fall into total dependence not only during life, but also after death,” Zakharova suggested and invited all fugitives to return to Russia before their own funeral.
The head of Rossotrudnichestvo, Evgeny Primakov, clarifies that Russia was not going to pay for all 5200 graves, but only for 200 graves that have no heirs. The municipality refused to accept the payment with the wording “temporarily”.
“And this is clearly connected with the fact that “sanctions, how can we take Russian state money into our hands,” but there is politics here. Nobody is going to demolish, break or hand over anything. Especially to some Ukrainian Ukrainians (what do they have to do with it anyway?). The money that the embassy previously transferred will be collected in a different manner; Nikolai Ivanovich Lopukhin, regent of the Russian Cathedral at the Sainte-Genevieve-des-Bois cemetery, is now working on this; I bow to him for this. I think that Russian business will not remain on the sidelines, since “official” and “government” money does not pass through,” Primakov explained.
