Officials failed to deliver Sputnik V to Russian compatriots in Transnistria
The Russian Sputnik coronavirus vaccine will not arrive in Transnistria in the near future.
Deputy Chief Sanitary Doctor of the Republic Inna Paladi stated this on the TSV television channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Many people prefer the Sputnik vaccine, but we have no information about the arrival of this vaccine in Pridnestrovie in the near future. There are vaccines from other manufacturers that are no worse,” Paladi said.
In June, the President of Transnistria, Vadim Krasnoselsky, stated that he was deciding on the purchase of 100 thousand doses of the Sputnik V vaccine with Russia, since the Pridnestrovians prefer this particular vaccine.
The PMR receives 10% of Western vaccines that come to Moldova through WHO.
On March 24, the Supreme Council of Transnistria appealed to the President of the Russian Federation with a request to “provide assistance in saving the lives of compatriots” and facilitate the speedy delivery of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine to the republic. After this, 71 thousand doses of the vaccine arrived in Moldova, of which 31 thousand were sent to Transnistria.
Currently, 90 thousand people have been vaccinated in the republic – 19% of the population.
