The number of illegal migrants in Russia has tripled
There are about 6 million foreigners in Russia, of which 9% do not have legal grounds.
Minister of Internal Affairs Vladimir Kolokoltsev stated this today in the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“For comparison, in 2016 this was almost every third migrant. Despite tangible positive changes, high risks in this area remain, including due to the unstable situation in the post-Soviet space and the Middle East. In this regard, we are strengthening control. After the pandemic, inspection activities were resumed,” Kolokoltsev said.
According to him, this year the police carried out 225 thousand checks, and 90% took place at key targets of interest for ethnic criminal services: markets, shopping centers, service enterprises, the construction industry and the residential sector.
