The number of Ukrainian workers is melting before our eyes
The pension reform of the Ukrainian government comes down to reducing spending on pensioners, when it would be necessary to increase the number of workers and raise their salaries.

Political scientist Alexey Yakubin stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The problem is that our number of employees is decreasing. Now, if I’m not mistaken, there are about 10 million workers and 12 million pensioners,” the expert emphasized.
He noted that the government focuses only on the need to eliminate the pension fund deficit.
“But the key issue is creating new jobs, increasing the workforce that we have. Plus an increase in the salaries of workers, of whom a single social contribution is paid,” the political scientist emphasized.
In his opinion, the government, with its pension reform, is simply trying to reduce the number of people who would receive a pension.
“This is the key goal of the proposed changes to reduce costs for older people without taking into account the difficult socio-economic conditions in which we find ourselves and without realizing that this will not solve the problem. This will simply postpone it to some indefinite future at the expense of the citizens. The key problem is low wages and a decreasing number of workers, plus the fact that many of them receive shadow income and do not pay into the pension fund,” summed up Yakubin.
