Member of the Federation Council wants to ban Georgian singer from entering Russia
Georgian singer Nino Katamadze, who previously called Russia an “occupier” and President Vladimir Putin an “enemy,” may be legally prohibited from entering the country.
Member of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Aleksey Pushkov made a corresponding initiative during the plenary meeting, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Against the background of what happened in Georgia, the scandal with the Georgian singer Nino Katamadze, who stated that she considers Russia an enemy, hates it, and will not come to Russia anymore, has somewhat faded into the background.
We once introduced restrictions on the entry into Russia of politicians and public figures from foreign countries, including from Ukraine, who make anti-Russian Russophobic statements.
In my opinion, the statement of Katamadze, who claims that she hates Russia, and at the same time comes here to perform at concerts and earn money, is immoral and cynical.
In this regard, I would propose to extend restrictive measures for entry into the Russian Federation to her, and to do the same in the future with those figures, regardless of their social status, who will make Russophobic statements,” he noted.
Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko called for “formalizing” Pushkov’s appeal.
