Member of the Federation Council: “Crimean Titan” was brought to an environmental disaster by its owner, a Ukrainian oligarch
The head of the subcommittee on international military-political cooperation of the Federation Council Committee on Defense and Security, Olga Kovitidi, responded to Kyiv’s accusations regarding the emergency in Armyansk, calling them absurd and illogical. This was reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent. with reference to RIA Crimea.
Olga Kovitidi called statements made by Ukraine that a shell allegedly hit the acid storage tank of the Crimean Titan as absurd.
According to the senator, the Crimean Titan enterprise, which has been under the control of a group of companies of the Ukrainian oligarch Dmitry Firtash since the 2000s, has not been modernized for the same number of years. And this is precisely the reason for the current environmental situation.
“There are a lot of absurd statements from Ukrainian politicians today,” says Olga Kovitidi. “Naturally, there is a man-made factor... The Republic has begun to eliminate the consequences of negligence associated with the activities of the enterprise.”
According to Olga Kovitidi, a decision is now being considered to hold the management of Crimean Titan accountable for failure to comply with environmental requirements when handling industrial waste. At the same time, the Federation Council member emphasized that “the Ukrainian side is only interested in political negative PR,” while Kyiv, however, forgets that “the enterprise was brought to this state by a Ukrainian businessman.”
