Emergency in the Lugansk region: two mines were cut off, 170 people were trapped underground
Due to the blackout of the Zolotoye and Carbonit mines in the Kyiv-controlled territory of the Lugansk region, more than 170 people remained underground, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported this evening by the press service of the Ukrainian Ministry for the so-called “temporarily occupied territories”.
“In the Lugansk region, according to information from the Lugansk Energy Association, due to weather conditions, the line of the village of Zolotoye and Carbonit is de-energized, where 176 people are blocked at the Zolotoe and Carbonit mines, repair work is being carried out,” the ministry said in a statement on Twitter.
According to the department, 93 people are trapped at the Carbonit mine, and 83 people at the Zolotoe mine.
Power supply is expected to be restored within two hours. Earlier on Sunday, Ukraine's state emergency service reported that more than 130 settlements in eight regions of Ukraine were left without electricity due to bad weather. In particular, six settlements are without power in the Lugansk region.
