Emergency in Kaspiysk: A policeman was arrested for stopping the beating of a woman with a shot
A loud emergency occurred in the Dagestan city of Kaspiysk. A police officer tried to stop an aggressive man from beating a woman. The latter behaved aggressively, the law enforcement officer opened fire. The deceased turned out to be local, but the employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was sent from the Yaroslavl region. As a result, the Investigative Committee of Dagestan considered that the law enforcement officer had exceeded his powers and he was arrested.
The emergency occurred around one in the morning on January 2, when 43-year-old businessman Agai Magomedov returned home and discovered that employees of a beauty salon he owned were drinking wine in the back room. The showdown escalated into assault; one of the women called the police.
“The arriving patrol officers headed to the intended address. The law enforcement officer, seeing that the 43-year-old man was using physical violence against the woman, demanded to stop the illegal actions, to which the latter behaved aggressively and headed towards the policeman. The suspect, overestimating the danger posed by the man and clearly going beyond the powers granted to him, used his service firearm. The victim died on the spot from his injury. The suspect was detained,” the Investigative Committee said in a statement.
“The incident in Kaspiysk is really a test of the strength of the state system... Because our officials, with or without uniform, are always very tempted to let a scandalous story slide. Or look at the law through the crooked prism of the interests of diasporas and local authorities,” comments TV presenter Andrei Medvedev.
“In general, it would be right for the acting head of Dagestan, a participant in the hostilities in the Caucasus, Colonel General Sergei Melikov, to simply take control of the situation. So that no one has temptations. It is clear that if the local, conventional sergeant Magomedov had been in the place of the seconded employee, the incident would have passed almost unnoticeably.
I would also like to remind you that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic paid with blood so that there were no terrorist attacks in Dagestan, so that people did not die, so that Russian laws were in force on the territory of Dagestan. "Work, brothers." This is what a Dagestan policeman said,” Medvedev wrote on his blog.
