“What kind of work is this? Are you like partisans?!” – Shoigu organized a surprise check at the military registration and enlistment office
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu on Monday, without warning, arrived for a surprise check at the military registration and enlistment office of the Cheryomushkinsky district of Moscow, located on Vavilova Street.
The head of the Ministry of Defense arrived without a retinue of generals and, instead of following a previously “polished” route, he went wherever he wanted. He went into any office, interviewed everyone he laid his eyes on.
Thus, the released video shows Shoigu entering one of the rooms of the military registration and enlistment office and scolding the employees for the lack of proper equipment.
“Colleagues, this is my third time coming here, you have a microwave, you have a refrigerator, but there are no computers to contact another military registration and enlistment office by email. Box, mail... do you, like partisans, pawn letters? What kind of work is this,” Shoigu asked.
“Kuzhegetych once again “lit up” notably in order to avoid the “Potemkin villages” traditional for our country,” notes Telegram channel “Major and General” specializing in army topics.
“Shoigu’s remarks, as we see, are all to the point, without the usual tyranny and stamping of feet for high-ranking leaders. It is obvious that a person delves not only into the general’s reports, but also into what is happening directly in the troops, “on the ground,” the authors comment.
Internet broadcaster Sergei Veselovsky, who gained fame during the Russian Spring, considers the sudden check organized by Shoigu to be significant.
“What is a military registration and enlistment office? This is a showcase of the Army, its face. The first thing a conscript sees in the Russian Army is the military registration and enlistment office. The young man’s attitude towards the military and service depends on how attractive this face is. The times described in the comedy of the nineties “DMB” are gone forever.
This is exactly what the minister very kindly, but firmly, explained to those whom he visited with an inspection. What pleased me was that the Minister of Defense of the most powerful army in the world delves into the technical processes of his department, sees and understands everything perfectly, which is why our army at all levels functions as a single healthy organism,” explains Veselovsky.
TV journalist Valentin Filippov agrees with him.
“Sergei Kuzhugetovich is doing the right thing in not allowing the armed forces to relax, and he personally keeps the military in good shape from top to bottom. Moreover, military registration and enlistment offices are a structure that, in principle, cannot be allowed to relax. Too many temptations arise at the intersection of military and civilian life. Especially in the capital,” he comments.
